The rise of agile workflow

About 20 years ago, the agile approach to information management hinged on document imaging, or the ability to convert paper documents into digital images, saving storage space and retrieval time. However, 10 years ago organisations made the leap to document management, a technology that manages images and electronic documents throughout their life cycles, including capture, filing, access control (security) and archiving.

These days, successful organisations need more than document management. Instead, they need to optimise the decision-making process by getting the right content (whether structured or unstructured, paper or electronic, audio or video, photograph or e-mail) into the right hands at the right time.

Adoption of Agile Workflow Methodologies and software has been increasing globally, and South Africa is no exception. As more organisations recognise the benefits of flexible and iterative solutions, there’s been an increased focus on innovation, digital transformation and customer satisfaction leading to the rise of Agile as a mindset.

The ability to respond quickly and efficiently to changing market conditions and customer needs helps organisations to deliver value faster and with faster results, by breaking down large projects into smaller, manageable chunks and prioritising the most valuable and impactful work. This approach also emphasises collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement, which helps to build trust and improve communication between team members, stakeholders and customers.
