Since I joined Kyocera, our philosophy has been a guiding light—a north star that has shaped our growth, defined our actions, and grounded us in principles that prioritise human connection and collaboration. This vision, articulated by our founder, Kazuo Inamori, remains as relevant today as ever, ensuring that our work is not just about success, but about honouring the people and communities we serve.
In his book From Zero to Kyocera: A Company Philosophy to Grow People and Organizations, revised and republished in 2020, Inamori offers a deep dive into the principles that have driven Kyocera’s evolution. What makes this philosophy timeless is its unwavering focus on doing what is right as human beings - a concept that resonates even more strongly in today’s fast-paced, digitally connected world.
Kyocera embraced collaboration long before it became a buzzword. Inamori’s belief in “Management by All” reflects a deep understanding of how empowering individuals and building teamwork leads to shared success. This philosophy not only prioritises human connection, but also champions innovation born from common purpose and open communication.
Relevance in 2025
Since Kyocera’s founding in 1959, the Kyocera Philosophy, has been integral to the company's ethos and it reminds us that true progress stems from our ability to align personal fulfilment with organisational goals.
Inamori’s emphasis on ethical leadership, and the importance of nurturing people ensures that we stay grounded while adapting to an ever-changing landscape, and it calls us to prioritise collaboration, integrity, and innovation in everything we do.
As we continue our journey in 2025 and approach the end of our fiscal year at KDZA, I am reminded what Kazuo Inamori wrote in the book’s introduction: “If you adopt the management philosophy and lifestyle laid out in this book, you are certain to succeed both in business and in life.”
Kazuo Inamori’s words continue to inspire: “Management is not about controlling others; it is about fostering growth in the people we work with.”
Together, we can embody this vision, creating a future where our actions are guided by purpose, and our success is shared.
