Kyocera team spreads compassion and hope on Mandela Day

A group of over 30 of our staff members had a heartwarming experience on Mandela Day, when they came together to make an impact in a community. The team had the privilege of supporting the New Jerusalem Children’s Home in President Park, Midrand, and Food for Life Kitchen, Midrand. This day was not just about giving back; it was about embodying the spirit of unity and compassion that Nelson Mandela championed.

A day of service and joy

The day began at the Food for Life Kitchen, where the team packaged nutritious meals with love and care. These meals were then delivered to the New Jerusalem Children’s Home, bringing smiles and sustenance to the children in their care. Additionally, the team rolled up their sleeves and assisted with some much-needed maintenance by painting two areas at the home. It was a day filled with hard work, camaraderie, and the joy of making a difference.

Embracing the Kyocera Philosophy

Our actions on Mandela Day reflect the simple yet profound Kyocera philosophy to "do the right thing as a human being." This principle guides us to make decisions based on what is right and just, and Mandela Day reminded us of the profound impact we can have when we come together with a common purpose. As Nelson Mandela once said, "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived, it is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead." Our efforts on this day were a testament to Kyocera’s commitment to community and compassion.

A call to continued service

But this philosophy is not about one day only. Let’s carry forward the spirit of Mandela Day throughout the year. I encourage everyone to look for opportunities to make a difference, whether big or small and to this end, the details of the two organisations are below. Together, we can continue to spread compassion, hope, and positivity in our communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this initiative. Your dedication and kindness truly embody the values we hold dear at Kyocera.
