GovTech 2023, Kyocera showcases solutions to digitally transform the public sector

Now in its 15th year, GovTech, held at the Durban International Convention Centre in September sought to facilitate engagement between the private and public sector that would enable the adoption of innovation and technology to accelerate service delivery for the benefit of all South Africans.

With the theme of ‘Innovate. Collaborate. Engage’, the conference spoke directly to Kyocera’s business ethos and offering. Kyocera has built its reputation on a foundation of innovation with the strategic imperative to fulfil the needs of our clients.

Historically, public services were held back by complex administrative processes and heavy reliance on paper documents. Governments are perceived to be reluctant to invest in optimisation solutions, and this has seen public services fall behind. There is currently pressure on services to be more efficient than ever, and we saw recognition that the situation must change. Now, with a clear return on investment and countless examples of success of digital transformation plans in the private sector, it is the ideal time for public sector organisations to consider a move to the latest technology.

Digital transformation of the public sector

According to SITA Managing Director, Dr. Bongani Mabaso, a key driver for this year’s conference was the need to dissect what possibilities a platform economy holds for the public sector under the theme of ‘Platform Economy for Digital Transformation and Inclusive Growth’.

At Kyocera we believe the benefits are obvious. Forging partnerships that enable the public sector to improve efficiencies through automated workflows and transparent systems, will not only improve services for its citizens but will also empower solutions-driven public sector that can concentrate on economic development that creates jobs and leads to a thriving economy.

Our aim at Kyocera is to provide business solutions that solve urgent problems for government entities. This requires that we work with stakeholders at every level in the value chain to create sustainable, holistic solutions.

ICT for speed, impact and convenience

In response to changes in the B-BBEE codes, Kyocera has adopted a supplier development initiative that aims to empower start-ups and SMMEs within the government ICT space.

The development process allows SMMEs to partner with Kyocera as resellers of our products and services. These businesses benefit from Kyocera’s backing and support in terms of services and maintenance. As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) we aim to further support public sector SMME service providers through competitive pricing and product support.

This year’s GovTech conference provided us with an opportunity to showcase our extensive product and service range and demonstrate how these can be applied to the public sector. Gaining efficiency is a key objective in the public sector and it was wonderful to be able to easily show how we facilitate digital transformation that optimises workflows and increases productivity.

We demonstrated to the public sector that they can leverage automation tools to reduce expenses and deliver a more efficient service. By establishing a long-term foundation for cost reduction and ongoing service enhancements, government can ensure they are building a sustainable approach to meeting the challenges posed by emerging technologies.

It was a pleasure to explore how Kyocera can assist GovTech visitors in potentially harnessing the full potential of automation and technology, and we encourage those who weren’t able to attend the conference to reach out to us. Let's work together to create a brighter and more efficient future for your public services.
