December holiday time is coming!

It’s getting to that time of year when schools close and masses of South Africans flock to the coast, mountains or their hometown for a well-deserved break. Unlike our counterparts in the Northern Hemisphere, we here in South Africa can pretty much count on good weather for the duration of the Festive Season, which makes it the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.

This year, the festive season holidays (25th and 26th of December), fall on a Wednesday and Thursday. You could follow traveller24.com’s ultimate holiday hack to squeeze the most from your annual leave by taking off from Tuesday 17 (after the public holiday on Monday 16 December) to 31 December. By taking a mere eight days leave, you’ll get a full 18 days off, now there’s good reason to fill in the leave form now. If you’re short on ideas of what to do during your time off, they also offer a list of great South African holiday destinations.

If you’ve got children, this article offers some interesting activities for additional opportunities to bond with your kids. The emphasis is on making positive memories and being present for your children through meaningful and fun experiences for the whole family.

Of course, you don’t have to travel far to get the most out of your year-end holidays. For those in the know, December is the best time to also stay put at home. The weather is perfect, the roads are quiet and the city takes on a subdued nature, unheard of in the midst of the rough and tumble working year. It’s the perfect time to explore the nooks and crannies of this fascinating city. If you’re short on ideas this article offers some interesting spaces and places to explore.

Whatever you decide to do, stay safe and enjoy your time off with your loved ones.
