International Award Winners from KYOCERA MITA

27 February 2007
When it comes to office automation, advances in technology continue to yield opportunities for enhanced productivity while generating substantial cost-savings. A case in point is the latest additions to the portfolio of network-ready multifunctional products (“MFPs”) from KYOCERA MITA, which made their South African début in the latter half of 2006.
The newcomers include three departmental monochrome A3 models designed to meet users’ needs for versatility, ease of use and improved operational efficiency from their printing devices. Each model – known as the KM-3050, KM-4050 and KM-5050 respectively – is a true MFP, boasting print, copy and colour scan as standard features, as well as optional fax. Faster scanning, copying and processing speeds are enabled by the inclusion of a single-pass double-sided scanner; as well as faster printing speeds: the KM-5050 prints at up to 50 pages per minute (“ppm”)
Moreover, the trio is the first to be equipped with KYOCERA MITA'S new WiseCore technology – a single-chip architecture that allows multiple jobs to be processed simultaneously. Thanks to the incorporation of a larger, 40GB memory, users can also store print files, scanned documents and incoming faxes in document boxes on the hard disk drive, thus enabling direct output without the intervention of a PC. A maximum paper capacity of 4 200 sheets, together with the option of a newly developed 3 000 sheet finisher, ensures optimal productivity.
Importantly, the advanced functionality and superior performance of the new monochrome MFP range has earned international recognition. BERTL® – a premier source for objective, independent product-evaluation reports on digital imaging devices and software – accorded the KM-3050, KM-4050 and KM-5050 a “Five-star Exceptional” rating mid-February this year.
The expanded KYOCERA MITA MFP line-up also includes the range of three A3 colour laser models aimed at medium-sized offices with a range of printing and copying needs. Known as the KM-C2520, KM-C3225 and KM-C3232 respectively, the threesome combines the proven reliability of KYOCERA MITA'S monochrome MFPs with the benefits of a colour printer/copier. Indeed, the use of KYOCERA MITA'S dual component toner and single component drum enhances their reliability by enabling the consistent delivery of high image quality over a protracted period of time. This, together with KYOCERA'S long-life components, reliable paper feeding and finishing mechanisms, minimizes the need for servicing and ongoing maintenance.
Designed to enhance productivity in the workplace, all three of the new KYOCERA MITA colour MFPs boast an ultra-short warm-up time of just 45 seconds; as well as a short paper path, which enables a super-fast first copy time of less than 8 seconds. As with their monochrome counterparts, each member of the colour trio has a powerful processor and a large capacity memory that allows several jobs to be processed simultaneously. Their printing rates are also very respectable: the KM-C3225 and KM-C3232 print at 32 ppm in black-and-white (A4), plus 25/13 ppm and 32/16ppm in A4/A3 colour respectively; while the KM-C2520 prints A4 pages at 25 ppm (black-and-white) and 20 ppm (colour), achieving 10 ppm for A3-format colour printing.
The combination of features has earned each of these new colour MFPs a “Four-star Highly Recommended” rating from BERTL – a score that is strictly reserved for devices that deliver a range of business-critical features/functions that are above average and provide potential buyers with a good return on investment.

“We are delighted at the international recognition given to our new models by BERTL,” says Michael Powell, Product Manager – Corporate Enterprise: KYOCERA MITA South Africa. “Especially as it underscores KYOCERA MITA'S commitment to delivering highly reliable, affordable and user-friendly solutions to help manage the increased flow of paper in today’s fast-paced office environment. When you factor in the ease of implementation and straightforward network integration of our MFPs and other devices, it’s not surprising that KYOCERA MITA products are increasingly accepted as attractive alternatives within the highly competitive document and imaging market both within South Africa and across the globe.”
